    Of all the foil-flinging people I'd ever want to have swashbuckling around on the helm of my Starship Enterpriseimage, I'd want Lt. Sulu. He provides the Enterprise with a tactical advantage by beefing up its WEAPONS as well as providing an array of skills suited towards solving missions in space.

    In doing so, Lt. Sulu makes playing an The Original Series-only deck a very viable option. He not only provides a good show of force to scare off potential enemies but his skills also complement those of his The Original Series contemporaries to create the necessary skill-redundancy needed for passing nasty dilemma combos. His SCIENCE makes for easier passing of Scientific Methodimage; his Biology for Aphasia Deviceimage; his Navigation for Null Spaceimage and Navigational Hazardsimage, among others; and his OFFICER for Maglockimage and Hazardous Dutyimage. He is even an excellent choice to leave on the ship during a planet attempt to pass Crisisimage and to defend it in case your opponent comes along with a ship or two while the Away Team is "stopped." After all, the best defense is sometimes a good offense.
