    Motura

Vidiian sculptor. Would have died of the phage if not for lungs stolen from Neelix. Willing to be punished. When shown mercy instead, responded in kind to save Neelix.

    Motura

This Card-Review article was written by Chris Heard and was published first on "Decipher's Website (decipher.com)" at Apr 24th, 2001.

The dreadful phage, the bane of Vidiian existence, ravaged the body of this accomplished Vidiian sculptor with such savagery that he and his honatta, Derethimage, felt compelled to steal Neeliximage's lungs for Motura's use. In the aftermath, it was from Motura that the Voyager crew learned about the Vidiians and their struggle with the phage.

Motura was basically a decent sort, desperate to save his own life but not truly cruel, and willing to accept responsibility for his organ theft. These personal qualities are reflected in Motura's Honor, Anthropology, and double Diplomacy skills. Motura's own scientific know-how proved invaluable to Neelix, and of course Motura was also able to commit his honatta's medical prowess to "compensating" for Neelix's loss (thus the special download).

Motura's varied skill set makes him quite useful to the Vidiians in a variety of contexts, without making him a "make or break" personnel for any one deck. He can help the Vidiians cope with Civil Unrestimage or understand a Primitive Cultureimage, needs only some CUNNING companions to decipher Tamarian communication, goes a long way toward helping his crew or Away Team avoid Implicationimage in conspiracy and murder, and more. Diplomacy is not exactly abundant among the Vidiians, thus making Motura's Diplomacy x2 particularly helpful.

Although he cannot complete any Vidiian mission by himself - he is, after all, an artist, not an explorer or soldier - Motura needs only a little help (one additional skill from a comrade) to Acquire (some alien) Technology or Study (an) Interment Site. And he can contribute helpful skills, though not as heavily as in these examples, to twelve other Voyager-expansion missions attemptable by the Vidiians. Motura should find a home in most Vidiian decks.
