Sometimes, you just need to shoot something.
Of course, people aren't stupid these days - if you don't blow them up in one shot, they run. Far, far away. And for Dominion players, the RANGE 6 on those attack ships just isn't going to cut it when it comes to search and destroy.
Happily (for the Dominion player, anyhow), the Breen give us a new way to deal with those speedster ships. The Energy-Dampening Weapon wipes out any special equipment (so no cloaking), and unless your target is a specific ship (the Sao Paulo, the Ki'tang, or another Energy Dampener-equipped craft), you disable their RANGE and WEAPONS. And even a Jem'Hadar Attack Ship
can chase down a ship with no RANGE.
Of course, you have to be quick about it - the damage marker from this tactic only lasts until the end of your next turn (although any other markers stay, as normal). So don't savor your hit too long.
Combos:
- Breen Energy-Dampening Weapon + Breen Energy-Dampening Weapon: On your first attack, the "power surge" won't affect the RANGE or WEAPONS of (say) the Stolen Attack Ship
, which has an Energy Dampener. But the rest of the tactic still applies, disabling all special equipment (including the Energy Dampener). Without a working Dampener, your second attack will include that effect, hopefully keeping him there long enough to finish him off. - Breen Energy-Dampening Weapon + Stolen Attack Ship: The Federation and Cardassians can use this tactic as well.
