The discreet servant of the Grand Nagus is as good a minder as you'd hope for - loyal, silent and very useful. Although his skill set may not be the most ideal for tackling Ferengi missions (although Navigation is a recurrent theme and Bribery opens up a plethora of possibilities), they are very helpful with keeping his master safe from dilemmas and battle. SECURITY is an ever more important skill, with Center of Attention and Ferengi Bug joining the ranks of SECURITY-based dilemmas like Berserk Changeling and Friendly Fire. Navigation x2 will avoid Gravimetric Distortion and help with Stellar Flare. Exobiology is a valuable skill as it allows him to stop to examine DNA Clues (so avoiding the MEDICAL-targeting dilemmas such as Tarellian Plague Ship or Hippocratic Oath), and will prevent anyone from ending up as a small pool of gloop due to a Coalescent Organism.
His attributes are highly desirable in any affiliation, and for the Ferengi they are outstanding. A CUNNING of 9 will help with Angry Mobs and Clan People, while his STRENGTH of 9 means that he is the only Ferengi personnel who can pass that aspect of Chula: The Dice unenhanced.
However as a protector it's his special downloads - not one, but two - that set him apart from the regular bruiser. His download of the Scepter of the Grand Nagus will allow the Nagus to stun any adversary that they encounter. Given that the available candidates for that office have a strength of 1-3, this is a valuable way of keeping them alive to exploit the Rules of Acquisition. His additional SD of Bodyguards allows you to keep a VIP or CIVILIAN safe from harm out of the way in a battle, and to stack your combat pile the way you want. So Maihar’du can keep two of your personnel free from harm during a battle while he weighs into the fray with his 9 STRENGTH. Wish all bodyguards were that loyal!!
Combos:
- Maihar'du + Grand Nagus Zek + Scepter of the Grand Nagus: Zek may have winning ways, but battle isn't his forte. Use Maihar'du's special download to keep him safe from harm.
- Maihar'du + Zek + Ishka: A classic Ferengi team! Mai'hardu downloads Zek's scepter to keep him out of harm's way while his SD of Bodyguards will make sure that Ishka avoids personnel battle.
