Geoffery Peterson (15th seed)
2-0 vs. Andrew Grace, 0-2 vs. Barry Windschitl, eliminated Round 2
Geoffery Peterson is widely regarded by top Second Edition players for his deckbuilding mastery; he won the inaugural Transwarp Award at Gen Con this year for his Day 2 Cardassian capture-based deck titled "Garak: Chakotay Substitute." However, various forces always seem to conspire against him whenever it comes to high-level tournament play; in 2005, he was sidelined early in Day 3 because of illness, and in 2006 he was eliminated in Round 1 of Day 3 on 2 bad draws in a row. Things were a bit different going into 2007.
As the 15th seed, he would face Andrew Grace in Round 1. Andrew had finished Day 2 with a record better than his brother, 2006 World Champion Caleb Grace.
rmed with the same Bajoran deck he had played the day before, he aimed to make quick work of Geoffery. But Geoffery guessed correctly that Andrew would be using the same deck (which had been published online the previous evening), and built his deck accordingly, sticking it to the Anthropology-heavy Bajorans with dilemmas like Accelerated Aging. Geoffery cruised to an easy 2-0 win to advance.
Moving onto Round 2, Geoffery sought to avenge his Round 6 loss from the day before against Barry Windschitl. Using the knowledge he had gained from their prior match, Geoffery knew that the Minnesota player was not a fluke, and Mirror Starfleet seemed like a good matchup versus Barry's resilient Klingons. But Barry, after having seen Geoffery's success in Day 2 with Cardassians, opted to try his own version of the Spoonheads instead. In the end, Barry used Elim Garak, Crafty Underling to eliminate Geoffery in two games.
