Kevin Jaeger - Day 3 Worlds (12th seed)

2-1 vs. Nick Fancher, 0-2 vs. Caleb Grace, eliminated in Round 2

A Minnesota throwback to the days of Mike Harrington, Kris Sonsteby, and Matt Frid, Kevin Jaeger came to try his hand at Second Edition after seeing his close friend Caleb Grace take home the title in 2006. A true Trek veteran, Kevin's return to Tier 1 play was long overdue; apparently he was involved in something called "real life."

Remaining loyal to the same mentality that had served him well in many First Edition games, Kevin fielded one of only three Borg decks seen on Day 2.

Indiscriminately assimilating his way to the top, Kevin managed to secure a Day 3 spot despite his relative inexperience in Second Edition play. He also chose to switch gears for Day 3; borrowing a page from Caleb's playbook, he added Ferenginar to a Dominion engagement deck to gain access to Brunt for swift event removal.

Brunt turned out to be a great metagame call against his first opponent, Nick Fancher, upsetting the 5th seed in three games. But against Caleb in the quarterfinals, Kevin was faced with a player who had intimate knowledge of his deck, and had to play a bit more conservatively throughout the match, choosing his battles based on his prediction of Caleb's hand at the time. However, Caleb's deck proved just a bit too fast for the expensive Dominion personnel to keep up with, and Kevin finished Worlds 2007 in 8th place.
