    (2) Between Duty and Respect

    Dual Dual Dilemma

Unless you have Archaeology, Geology, and Science or Honor, Leadership, and Officer, randomly select a personnel to be stopped, and if the opponent on your left commands Bajor, he or she may take a card from his or her discard pile into hand.

"If I leave here, I'll die...so I'd rather die here."

Characteristics: "randomly select" dilemma, "randomly stopper" dilemma.
    Requires: Bajor.

    Between Duty and Respect

This Card-Review article was written by Will Hawkins and was published first on "Decipher's Website (decipher.com)" at Oct 11th, 2005.

The To Boldly Go affiliation specific dilemma for the Bajorans bolsters their already powerful ability to retrieve cards from the discard pile. Every Bajoran deck should employ the ability to retrieve and this dilemma is a natural fit.

Its two cost is affordable and easy to combo. The requirements of Archaeology, Geology, and Science or Honor Leadership, and Officer are not staggering but with such a bonus I would not expect them to be. Fortunately we have Picking Up the Piecesimage and Planetary Surveyimage for the first set of requirements. For the second we can hit them with Personal Dutyimage and Command Decisionsimage. There is always Harsh Conditionsimage to lock out the skills they have. I can see this card working well in a Tragic Turnimage pile.

What to retrieve is the basic question to ask once you can consistently utilize Between Duty and Respect. Since you can grab any card I would suggest you aim for interrupts. The reason for this is that interrupts are the hardest to get back. There are several retrieval cards available but only a few give you back interrupts. Feast on the Dyingimage, Text of the Kosst Amojan, and Straying from the Pathimage are a few examples, however each one requires the sacrifice of another card or extensive set up to get working. Between Duty and Respect also ranks right up there with my favorite Prylar as far as retrieval goes. The card comes into your hand with no loss of another card.

True the Bajorans already have plenty of cards that help them retrieve. This is just one more to use. I will definitely add this to every Bajoran deck I build. Its cost makes it worth adding and the bonus effect outweighs the relatively easy requirements.

    Live Long, Prosper, and Retrieve.
