    Drake, Voyager Shuttle

This Card-Review article was written by openCards user Graves and was published first on "Decipher's Website (decipher.com)" at Nov 16th, 2006.

I don't know whether this shuttle was named after Sir Francis Drake, the16th century naval pioneer renowned for his circumnavigation of the world, or after Dr. Frank Drake, pioneer in the search for extraterrestrial intelligence.

What I do know is that this shuttle is quite similar to all the shuttles known so far in the game. It has a cost of three, 3-3-3 attributes, only one staffing star, and a built-in range reduction when too many personnel are aboard. It also features a range boost, which I'll discuss momentarily.

Like many other  ships in Captain's Log, the Drake has the ability to report to Caretaker's Arrayimage or to the mission where your U.S.S. Voyager, Home Away From Homeimage is located, which can be a huge advantage in minimizing movement within a space mission environment.

In the episode "Non Sequitur," the shuttle Drake is blown-up when Harry Kim takes it through a time-stream, ending-up in an alternate timeline. This fact was the inspiration for this card's range-boosting ability. Commanding a Temporal event in your core is enough to add 3 to the Drake's Range. At first glance, that may not seem all that appealing to you, but if you consider cards like the new Destiny Resetimage or ever-popular cards like Machinationsimage, Tampering With Timeimage, Temporal Incursionimage, Heightened Perceptionimage and The Manheim Effectimage (or even cards like Ohhhh! Nothing Happened!image and The Edge of Foreverimage), you'll understand that keeping this shuttle at its Range of 6 will be as easy as giving candy to a kid.

Not yet convinced? Well, if I tell you that on top of all this delight that this little wonder is only a common card, you no longer have an excuse to not include this shuttle in your decks.
