Star Trek: First Contact introduced some cool starships and the most popular probably was the Akira-class. Now that the Enterprise-E  crew is an independent sub-faction, the First Edition card designers finally had an excuse to add the U.S.S. Akira to the long list of Federation universal ships.

Today’s article is going to take a few minutes to dive in and take a closer look at Duck Blind, the newest draw engine in the 1E card pool. Duck Blind is by far one of the most diverse seedable draw engines in 1E due to its ability to fit easily into almost any deck.

One of the prizes for winning the First Edition World Championship is the right to design a card of their choice. Their cards are subject to all of the normal rules and restrictions of design, and go through the same testing process as every other card. Sometimes, the winner's card doesn't make it through testing, and they're invited to try again.

”Hold your course, Mister Hawk. We must follow them back...” -Jean-Luc Picard, First Contact

Long before there was a TNG or DS9 icon to differentiate Federation groups from one another, there was the Enterprise-E icon. More than just a faction icon, it was a staffing icon, replacing the Command and Staff icons on the Bridge Crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise-E.

Gametext The Kazon Collective: Once each turn, if you have a Maje in play, you may report another Kazon of his sect for free.

This feature isn't useful for any sect because they have no members in STCCG, so here you can see, which sect can realy benefit from this for-free report.

Introduction: With Blaze of Glory, subsequent follower of The Dominion expansion, Alpha Jem'Hadar entered the playing field. Kudak'Etan is one of the more interesting, for several reasons.

The card itself: For a Jem'Hadar, Kudak'Etan acceptable attributes. 11 strength is very good, cunning 7 and integrity 6 is a bit disappointing. For his bevaviour in the respective episode was not very clever, it is understandable. He also has a very interesting special download.

You might wonder why you'd ever want to use Tactic cards to inflict damage on an opposing ship's RANGE when you can do the same without using a battle side deck. Target Engines provides one answer.

While this Tactic may not offer as much in the way of Attack and Defense Bonuses as some other choices, its damage effect really stands out. The WEAPONS reduction of 2 will make it harder for your opponent to counterattack you on their next turn by decreasing the chance they'll overcome your SHIELDS.

One of the most notable features of this Tactic card is its glaring lack of any HULL damage number at all - the only tactic that's missing that form of damage, and it's no mistake. So why would anyone want to use it? If blowing up ships and outposts is your cup of tea, you probably wouldn't. But if you prefer boarding parties and captives, it's exactly what you need, because it literally targets only SHIELDS.

Though it offers a massive attack bonus of 5, this Tactic does not boost your defense at all. Some might therefore conclude that this isn't the best choice for a defense-minded battle side deck, but not so fast... in a battle you know you're going to lose anyway, this is exactly the type of card you'd want to try and take one of your opponent's ships with you.

At first glance this tactic's ATTACK bonus of 1 doesn't look promising. But that's only if you're not using Romulan ships. If a Romulan ship is firing WEAPONS in the battle, the ATTACK bonus goes up to a satisfying 3, with a DEFENSE bonus of 2. A "standard" hit (two damage markers) will yield two random casualties and total damage of RANGE -2, WEAPONS -2, SHIELDS -4 and HULL integrity -60%.

With a DEFENSE bonus of 0, this tactic is best used with ships that are already well-SHIELDED. If you have a ship's matching commander aboard, you have a good chance of surviving a battle even without a DEFENSE bonus, because there is a 50/50 chance that the ship will sustain no damage at all.

Assimilation is not just for Talon Drones anymore. What used to be the province of Borg Servos and personnel battles can now be done in ship to ship combat. When your Borg ship hits with this Tactic (and in the case of Cubes, how often does it not?) you assimilate one of your opponent's crew members into your hive.
