Corruption is one of the major themes of the Gollum culture, and as such he seems to mesh well with an Easterling corruption deck, which has one of the easiest times when adding burdens.

So, you've got this odd looking, strength 3 companion hanging around. What can you do with him? The key to using Old Noser isn't winning skirmishes with him. That's not going to happen, unless Frodo has Sting and you are willing to exhaust him.

Gathering to the Summons is part of a set of Shadow cards that I think of as “Spot to add a burden” cards. Each card is a different culture and each has a different requirement. (Although Must Do Without Hope does not use the ‘spot’ verb in its text, you can successfully argue that you must ‘spot’ the Balrog to exert it.)

Poleaxes wielded by tall Easterling warriors cut through armor and bone.
Easterling Axeman is one of those cards that seems simple enough to understand and play at first glance but is actually worth a second and closer look. As a cost 2, strength 6 minion the Axeman is nothing special. But once two burdens are on the Ring Bearer he becomes a strength 9, Fierce fighter - one of the most efficient minions in the game.

"The voices and the clink of weapons and harness were very close."
This seldom used card has the ability to destroy many Free People's strategies. It has the virtue of not being restricted to a particular Raider subculture and can be included in either a direct wounding deck or a burden deck.

The Southrons fought with tactics the men of Gondor had never before seen.
Many Free Peoples sides revolve around winning skirmishes - Trust Me decks, Help in Doubt and Need decks, Gondor Men, and many more. For such a Free Peoples side, an unexpected point of damage at a critical moment can be devastating, upsetting its play, potentially even killing a key companion.

The Dunlending Ravager is a 1 cost, 5 strength minion whose versatility is often overlooked. This card should be a natural for inclusion in every Dunlending deck you make because of the many ways it can destroy allies and aid in various Dunlending strategies.

Standing behind the Dunlendings and urging them ever to greater battles
is Saruman. His words are so powerful that a tiny exertion on his part
will raise the strength of a Dunlending Man by +2. He plans not just to
raze the plains of Rohan though, but to hinder the Fellowships move to
Mordor, forcing them to exert when they move for each Dunland Man in
play.

The wooden weapons of the wild men slew scores of unarmed villagers.
We've all seen them mocking us from across the table, making themselves known every time our Dunlendings try to stop the fellowship. You know what I'm talking about: Aragorn's Bow, Flaming Brand, Eomer's Spear, Bow of the Galadhrim, Sting, or any other Free Peoples possession that permanently thwarts your best efforts to kill companions. The War Club is our salvation.
