Howdy! I've been anxiously waiting for the Collection Manager to be released since around October of last year, but the release date keeps getting pushed back! I would like to offer assistance if you need it. I wouldn't be much help with programming, but I can help with card information or image collection. Let me know if you could use some help.
Thanks!

Hi Mervil,
thanks for offering your help!
We will start with the beta test of Collection Manager in the next days. Therefore, you can help us while testing the tool!
But we can also need any help with the cards database. In particular for ST1E. For expample we are searching for the following images of St1E cards:
Premiere WB 94
Premier WB 95
Premier SB
Tribble Reprint starter cards
Tribble Reprints with Tribbles
On the other side we are happy for every hint when you see a bug in our database - which is already used here on openCards in the cards section of St2E and ST1E...
Maybe, you can help us here?
Thanks!

The main technical differences between Version 1.x and 2.0 are:
* the location of the database must be changed (because of harmonisation with Collection Manager)
* your decks are now saved as XML files
* registration changed - a User-ID is no longer necessary. Simply enter your real name and your openCards user name when you open ST2E Deckbuilder first time
Because of this changes it is necessary, that you delete the old version of ST2E Deckbuilder and install the complete version 2.0. BUT: befor you do this you should save your decks! You find your decks in the folder c:/programme/uct/db2e/decks/"your user name" (when you use the standard installation directory). All your deck files have the file extension ".deck" in version 1.x of ST2E Deckbuilder. After saving your decks at a different place you can simply delete the hole folder "uct" with all its subfolders and files beneath.
Now you can follow the standard installation process to install ST2E Deckbuilder version 2.0 (as discribted unter "Install ST2E Deckbuilder 2.x".
When you open ST2E Deckbuilder first time you should enter your real name and your openCards User name - a ST2E Deckbuilder user-ID is no longer necessary. After doing that all functions of the ST2E Deckbuilder are availible for you. With your registration information a new dirctory was createt for your decks (openCards user name + real name). You can copy your "old" deck files back to your new deck directory (same location under "uct/db2e/decks" as before).
Your old deck files are full compatible with the new deckbuilder version. But when you open and change such a "old" deck-file it will be converted to a XML file when you save it (file extension ".xml". Also all new decks will be created as XML files in your new deck directory. You can use this files to exchange your decks with your friends if you wish.

ST2E deckbuilder is only available for Windows systems (recommended Windows XP). To install and run the programm you need a (free) Java Runtime on your computer (for download link and more information see www.java.com). Make shure that you have a actual Java Runtime on your computer befor installing ST2E Deckbuilder!
Pleas follow these steps to install ST2E Deckbuilder:
1. Unzip the download file
When you download ST2E Deckbuilder you receive a windows zip file named "ST2E Deckbuilder 2.x.zip". The first thing you have to do is: extract the included files to any location on your computer using any common unzip programm (e.g. freeware 7-zip under www.7-zip.org).
2. Open the install programm
After you unzip the download file you should find several files: First the install progamm "install_st2e_deckbuilder.bat" and the programm sources "ST2E Deckbuilder_2.x_sources.jar". Furthermore several help files: One help file about the installation (with the same information as this forum topic), and further help files with information about how to updated from the older versions to the current one. If you upgrade from an older version please read the corresponding help file first.
If you are a new user of ST2E Deckbuilder simply open (double click) the file "install_st2e_deckbuilder.bat" to proceed. The install programm for ST2E Deckbuilder should open now. Simply follow the instructions of this installer to complete the installation process.
3. Start ST2E Deckbuilder
After sucessful completing the install programm you find the start file "db2e.bat" for ST2E Deckbuilder under: c://programme/uct/ (if you use the standard install directory). Simply double click this file an ST2E Deckbuilder comes up. When you open the programm the first time you have to enter your real name and your openCards user name to identify yourself. This information is used to create a directory where you will find all decks that you create with ST2E Deckbuilder.
That's all - we wish you a lot of fun with the new version of ST2E Deckbuilder!
